Configuring your Duke Exchange account in Entourage 2008
If you have just installed Office 2008 for Mac and have not opened Entourage, then when you first open Entourage you will be asked if you would like to import any settings. Close the Setup wizard and begin at Step 1.
-
Open Entourage and click on the Entourage menu
- Select Account Settings
- Any previously configured accounts will be displayed. You can keep these accounts and add your new Duke Exchange account, however you should name them in a manner that you will know which email service each is connecting to (for example DukeMail, Duke Exchange).

- Click on New and select Exchange

- Enter your Duke Exchange email address, this is your primary SMTP address.

- Check the box that reads My account is on an Exchange server and click the right arrow to continue. The Configuring Account window will be displayed as Entourage attempts to configure your account using Autodiscover. If Entourage is not able to automatically configure your account, you may manually configure it as described below.

If Entourage is unable to retrieve the account settings from the Exchange server you can also manually configure your account. Please be aware that manual configuration may not provide all the same features.
- If Entourage is unable to automatically configure your account, you should see the Account Setup Incomplete window. Click the Configure Account Manually at the bottom of this window.
- Enter the following in the Verify and Complete Settings window:
Account name: Duke Exchange Name: Your full name E-mail address: Your primary SMTP address Account ID: NetID Domain: Leave this field blank Password: NetID password Exchange server: https://exchange.oit.duke.edu/exchange/NetID (be sure to enter your NetID)
Check the box to Use SSL for these servers.
NOTE: You can save your password if your Mac account is secured by checking the box to Save password in my Mac OS keychain. Consult your local IT support if you have any questions regarding security on your Mac.

- Click on the Advanced tab to configure Entourage to access the Global Address List.
- Enter win.duke.edu for the LDAP server and check the box This server requires me to log on.
- Click OK. See the Notes below regarding connecting to Exchange.
|
- Click OK. You should see your new Duke Exchange account listed in the accounts window. If you have other accounts configured within Entourage, select the new Duke Exchange account and click Make Default.
- Close the Accounts window and Entourage will connect to your Duke Exchange account.
NOTE: If there is already mail in your mailbox, it will take several minutes for Entourage to cache local copies before you see all your messages, but this will only occur when your account is first configured or if you have not accessed it in an extended period.
NOTE: You may be intermittently prompted for your password. Leave the Domain field blank and enter the following information:
Domain:
Account ID: NetID
Password: NetID password
